HELP US TO
Paint the Town Red has prominent Perth landmarks lighting up in red in a visible symbol of the community’s ongoing support for HIV/AIDS awareness.
Red Party is the largest student-run charity in Western Australia. Each year we engage over 2000 people in HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns and raise over $30,000 to support people in Sub-Saharan Africa living with these conditions. This year we are supporting Oxfam Australia’s Securing Rights in the Context of HIV/AIDS program in Zimbabwe, and advocating to reduce the stigma faced by people with HIV/AIDS in our local community.
Our principle advocacy event, Red Aware Week, takes place in late August and involves the Perth community in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS. One of the most powerful elements of this campaign is Paint the Town Red, with prominent Perth landmarks lighting up in red as a visible symbol of the community’s ongoing support for this issue.
This year Red Aware Week will be held between the 28th of August and the 1st of September 2017. Our current partners for this year include the Perth Concert Hall, the Bell Tower and Elizabeth Quay.
